You look just like…
We hear it all the time from people who know our families. Someone looks like their mom, or their dad. Someone resembles their cousin Kim. Maybe you’re the spittin’ image of your crazy Aunt M. It’s one of the ways we connect with family. It’s how we know and feel that we belong.
Who is it that you favor? And do you, in any way, favor God?
For in [God] we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ Acts 17:28, NLT
If we are, indeed, God’s offspring, we are bound to favor God in some way. We surely reflect some of God’s traits and characteristics. Deep down, I believe each of us wants to know how we do that. We desperately want to know exactly how we favor our ultimate parent.
I’ve heard it said we’re each created with a God-size hole that only God can fill. When we find ourselves feeling the void of that unfilled hole, the desire to experience our unique connection with God can be the pull that draws us to seek God. It can be the source of the desperation that drives us to discover exactly how we’ve been created to favor the Creator of the universe.
I hope you choose to give in to that pull. You know who you favor. Find out how others see God in you.
